Golf

The range and variety of golf courses within a short drive will amaze you. If you are a golfer then be sure to schedule a visit to at least one of these spectacular courses during your visit!

Royal Dornoch

“The King of Scottish Links courses” and only 30 miles from Highland Farm Cottages! Recently voted “the 8th-best golf course on the planet”, any golf enthusiast will be delighted with a round at this famous course. Golf has been played here since 1616 and more recently has played host to names like Bill Clinton and other big hitters.

Dornoch is also notable as the last place a witch was burnt in Scotland. Her name was Janet Horne; she was tried and condemned to death in 1727. There is a stone, the Witch’s Stone, commemorating her death, inscribed with the year 1722.

Other courses to consider: Castle Stuart, Nairn, Brora.

Fortrose

Fortrose course is a good value links course that doesn’t require advance booking.

Muir of Ord

This Parkland course is only 15 minutes from Highland Farm Cottages. Generally flat and . . . quite forgiving!

Strathpeffer Golf Course

Challenging and hilly with some blind summits, Strathpeffer is described by Peter Allis as “a jewel in the Highlands of Scotland”.
