The walls in this cottage are two feet thick and have been keeping the Scottish weather at bay for around 200 years. They were previously part of a Stables block used to house the prized horses of Major Colin Mackenzie of Mountgerald. The old building was converted by the current owners Kenneth and Lesley MacKenzie in 2010/11.
The accommodation available upstairs now includes one master double with Kingsize bed plus a further double bedroom and a family bathroom with shower. Beech Cottage is positioned in the corner of the 19th century courtyard and has a similar floor plan to Stables Cottage.
Downstairs offers heated floors throughout, another family shower room with W.C, a large and well equipped kitchen with granite worktops, a spacious lounge with 42" plasma television, blu-ray DVD player, ipod dock, free wi-fi, solid oak flooring and luxurious leather sofas. Underfloor heating is powered by LPG supplemented by solar panels and is included.
Outside Beech Cottage is the original courtyard with parking available to the main door. From April until October in one of the adjacent fields, three Highland cattle known as The Mountgerald Highlanders roam freely and are very fond of having their photographs taken.
We have tried to make Beech Cottage child friendly, providing a travel cot, stair gate, and high chair on request. There is a children's play park available on the flat grass area just down hill from Beech Cottage which includes swings, slide, picnic table, monkey bars and a tower.
